OSID-R is an addressable reflective linear optical smoke detector for protecting large open spaces such as warehouses and atriums. The infrared transmitter and CMOS imager in one housing send the beam to a reflector and analyse the returning signal. The imager's 12° field of view tracks the reflector automatically, so building movement causes neither false alarms nor faults; sunlight, bright light sources and partial or sudden blocking of the beam do not cause an alarm. Sensitivity is set automatically from the size of the reflector, drift is compensated automatically, and alignment is guided by arrows on the front of the detector.
