The Cut Simulator Tool is used to test Southwest Microwave's fence-mounted INTREPID MicroPoint, MicroPoint II, MicroNet, MicroNet II and MicroPoint POE-S perimeter intrusion detection systems. It delivers a mechanical impact to the fence fabric that simulates a cut attempt without damaging the fabric. The maker's engineers tuned it so that the signal matches cuts made with 20 cm and 46 cm bolt cutters. The impact is the same whoever performs the test, so the whole perimeter is tested uniformly – unlike tapping with a screwdriver or kicking the fence. The tool can be used for both functional and performance testing and gives repeatable results on chain link, welded mesh, expanded metal and rigid fence fabrics. It consists of a stainless steel rod moving in a stainless steel tube with a heavy-duty spring; the trigger has three settings: 1 – 46 cm bolt cutter, 2 – 20 cm bolt cutter, 3 – gross attack. Setting 3 is used on vinyl- or plastic-coated fences. For painted or coated fences a Delrin-tipped version 2647132-A01 is available separately.
